Four local good causes share £2,000 from Adair & Neely Community Fund

Four organisations supporting people across Derry/Londonderry and the surrounding area have received a welcome funding boost from the Adair & Neely Community Fund, with grants awarded to projects focusing on addiction recovery, bereavement support, inclusive play and affordable dance tuition.

The funeral home’s latest funding round has provided £500 each to Northlands, Sollus School of Dance, Stars Support Group and Youthlife, helping the organisations continue and expand services that make a positive difference within their local communities.

Representatives from the four organisations were invited to receive their grants from Wayne Glenn, Funeral Manager at Adair & Neely Funeral Directors.

Northlands will use its funding to help refurbish the communal living area at its residential treatment centre on the Dungiven Road. The charity supports more than 1,000 people and their families each year through its addiction treatment and recovery services.

Sollus School of Dance received funding to support 20 hours of Highland dance tuition for an outreach class at Irish Street Community Centre. The project aims to make dance tuition more affordable for families while creating opportunities for young tutors and dancers to progress towards examinations and competitions.

The grant awarded to Stars Support Group will help purchase specialist sensory and motor-skills equipment for its Stay & Play sessions, supporting children with additional needs, autism and disabilities in a safe and inclusive environment.

Meanwhile, Youthlife will use its funding to support a pilot programme of group art therapy for children and young people affected by bereavement. The initiative will provide a safe space where participants can explore grief, develop coping skills and connect with others who have experienced loss.

Wayne Glenn said: “We are delighted to support four very different organisations which are all doing important work for people in our local community.

“What really stood out to us was the practical difference these grants can make. Whether it is creating a welcoming environment for people recovering from addiction, giving children an inclusive place to play, helping young people cope with bereavement or making dance classes more accessible, each project is responding to a genuine local need.

“We are very proud that the Adair & Neely Community Fund can play a small part in helping these organisations continue the fantastic work they are doing.”

The Adair & Neely Community Fund was established to support projects that make a positive difference to people living close to the funeral home, helping local organisations deliver valuable services and initiatives that strengthen the communities they serve.
